During December 28, 2018 – January 4, 2019 we invite you to Experience South Africa! (space very limited) I Love Being Black & Traveling.black have linked up once again to curate the best trip you’ve ever taken. After you submit your deposit we will assist you in booking the best flight from your home city. All of our tours have a focus on diasporic Black experiences, supporting Black businesses and using Black guides. Check the itinerary below For many of you this will be your first time on African soil but we guarantee it will not be your last. We’ll meet you at the airport after you land, then take you to check in to your room to freshen up. You will receive your swag bags and get to know each other at our meet-greet-n-eat. We’ll also talk about being responsible global citizens who have a thirst for knowledge & experiences while having a healthy respect for other cultures. Today is a good day to do a lil shopping and pick up some things you forgot at home. Also, it’s Friday night; naturally there is an option for going out on the town. For those who are jetlagged you may want to call it an early night, tomorrow we safari! If you’ve never been on an African safari, this day may very well be the highlight of the entire trip. We’ll hop into our safari vehicles and listen to the safari guide give us the plan for the day. THEN we will start the search for the “Big 5” animals (lion, leopard, rhinoceros, elephant, and buffalo) and all of the other cool plants and wildlife. Cameras are optional, we will have our own photographer onboard with us to document the surroundings with his telephoto lens. Later that night, after we’re done safari’ing, we’ll compare photos and reminisce about our safari adventure while sipping rooibos tea. We will start out the day by going to Johannesburg’s official Apartheid Museum. You will learn about people such as Nelson & Winnie Mandela, Desmond Tutu, Walter Sisulu and more. After the museum we’ll be going to one of South Africa’s favorite destinations… SOWETO! Soweto (South Western Townships) is a hot spot for vibrant culture, good vibes, and powerful history. You’ll see everything from street performers to a house Madiba (Mandela) used to live in. After Soweto we’ll hit up the first day of the AfroPunk festival! I hope you have your outfits ready, South Africans like to dress to impress. Today is the last day of 2018 so how do we start it off?? By shopping, of course. We support Black owned businesses globally, so what better way to do this than take you to a great market filled with clothing, handmade arts and good eats. Next we’ll check out a trendy area of Jo’burg called Maboneng. Maboneng is known for it’s bold subculture, alternative ways of thinking and unique styles of expression. Your last evening/night of 2018 will be spent celebrating life at the AfroPunk festival and jamming to world class music before and after the countdown. We’ll get a start on 2019 before our friends and family back home 😀 We’ll all take the short 2-hour hop to Cape Town AKA The Mother City. Get ready to experience laid back vibes, beautiful beaches, long street nightlife and AMAZING little eateries. After we check in to our accommodations the rest of the day is free to you. Our team & guides will still be available if you want to partake in any of the recommended activities (beach, shopping, custom made clothing, art perusing, District 6 Museum, etc) or simply catching up on rest during your first day of 2019. We’ll have a home-cooked dinner at the house of a friend of Traveling Black. We’ll also be discussing what is going on with the reallocation of farmland to Black South Africans. We will start off the morning at Table Mountain where you can either hike to the top or take the cable car to see the amazing views. Next, you are in for a treat. We will drive to the Southern-most tip of the African continent, Cape Agulhas. Here you will see the Atlantic & Indian oceans collide, they don’t seem to mix! Next we’ll get to see penguins bodysurfing at Boulders beach. On the way back home we will enjoy Chapman’s Peak drive and the ensuing sunset to the west. At night you have many options for fun, including the vibrant Long street and many other choices. We’ll start the day off sharing, teaching and learning in one of Capetown’s townships. Visiting the townships of South Africa is important in order to have an authentic trip. Now we’re off to the Stellenbosch area just outside of Cape Town. Stellenbosch is known for it’s amazing wines which rival those in Napa, Santa Barbara, etc. We will be hosting a private event at a Black owned winery where we’ll sip, laugh and enjoy delectable bites such as South African biltong. After the wine is done we will head to one of Cape Town’s most beautiful beach areas to enjoy the sunset, live entertainment and dinner on the beachfront. You will be able to experience South Africa and all her beauty here during your last evening in South Africa. Last but certainly not least we’ll kick it, hard, at a popular cigar bar VIP style. This is the sad day that we have to say goodbye, but we are glad you got to Experience South Africa. We will take you to the airport early to ensure you make your flight on time. We hope to see you again on future Traveling Black trips! You will have your own room for the duration of the trip, upgraded whenever possible Your choice of bottle waiting in your room upon arrival New African outfit + photo shoot VIP Swag BagExperience South Africa.
