The trip you’ve been waiting for…

Early bird options available

During June 8-14, 2025 (two extensions available) we invite you to Experience East Africa 2025. Join us on a tour to several countries, multiple islands and a world class safari, curated by Traveling Black. We look forward to welcoming you to this epic adventure. We will highlight culture, history, fun and food during our journey. This is the best way to visit multiple countries in East Africa during a single trip.

All of our tours have a focus on diasporic Black experiences, support for Black businesses and local Black guides. Space is limited, are you ready? Check the itinerary below.

DAY 1. hello uganda

Experience East Africa - Situka

For many of you this will be your first time on African soil but we guarantee it will not be your last. We’ll meet you at the airport then take you to check into our hotel. At our meet & greet you’ll receive a swag bag and meet everyone else who has joined this portion of the tour. For those of you with energy left there will be a few options to enjoy Uganda’s amazing nightlife. Let’s experience East Africa!

DAY 2. the Markets

After breakfast we will head out on a city tour of Kampala. Kampala is a bustling African city known for its busy streets, abundant motorbikes, numerous markets and tasty street food [360º image]. We will take you through the market where you can practice your bargaining skills while shopping. Next you will get to see the National Mosque which was a gift from Libya’s Gaddafi [360º image]. If you want some exercise you can climb the 272 stairs to the top of the tower to see a 360º view of the city. At night we will party Kampala style while we listen to AfroBeats and enjoy their vibrant lounges.

DAY 3. the nile river

Nile river, Jinja Uganda

We will make the drive east to a town called Jinja. Jinja is where the infamous Nile river begins [360º image] and flows northward where it eventually ends in Kemet (Egypt). We will take a boat ride to where you can see the water bubble up out of the earth and start its 4,000 mile journey. Next we will visit a nonprofit African orphanage. The kids & staff there have organized a cultural show for us to extend a hand of welcome [360º image]. We can support them by giving donations (items or $), and also by purchasing their handmade goods which make amazing gifts. Tomorrow we fly to Zanzibar, Tanzania.

DAY 4. Hello zanzibar

Experience East Africa - Zanzibar

After landing in Zanzibar, Tanzania we will take you to the hotel to check in and experience our first sunset in Zanzibar. The African archipelago of Zanzibar is known for its white sandy beaches with crystal blue water. We’ll be staying on Unguja island (AKA Zanzibar island). Historically, Zanzibar used to be a major slave trading port as it is a gateway between Africa and Asia. At the full Meet & Greet we’ll talk about being responsible global citizens who have a thirst for knowledge & experiences while having a healthy respect for other cultures.

DAY 5. a sandbank oasis

Nakupenda sandbank, Zanzibar

We will tour Stone Town and the old Slavery Market [360º image] in the morning then get ready for the next treat. Imagine a sandbank in the middle of the Indian ocean that only appears during low tide [360º image]. During that time people come to the Nakupenda sandbank to relax, eat lunch and enjoy the unspoiled remote stretch of paradise. We will be doing photo shoots, getting massages and eating a lunch filled with fresh fruit, seafood and local vegan options.

DAY 6. explore zanzibar

Experience East Africa - Zanzibar - The Rock Restaurant

Today we get to drive up to the north end of the island where the beaches are quieter and somehow even more beautiful [360º image]. Afterward we will drive to the east coast of the island for a unique experience. Have you ever taken a boat to a restaurant with its own private island [360º image]? We’ll do that for dinner as we experience The Rock restaurant. At night we’ll hang out at a local lounge, tomorrow we leave Zanzibar.

DAY 7. hello kenya

Experience East Africa - Safari Big 5

Today we will fly to Nairobi, Kenya. We will eat dinner and relax because tomorrow we safari [360º image].

DAY 8. safari on the endless plains

Experience East Africa - Safari Plains

We will start out early to make the drive down to the Maasai Mara (Kenyan side of the Serengeti). The Maasai Mara is the best place in the world to go on safari. The whole ecosystem stretches over 1,500 square kilometers, endless plains as far as the eye can see. The safari guides will let us know what to expect, what to do and what not to do while in the game reserve. Then we’ll load up in our safari vehicles and head out into the great beyond in search of what mother nature has to offer [360º image].

DAY 9. meet the tribe

Experience East Africa - Maasai Tribe

Today we will continue our safari and search for the Big 5 and much more. The Big 5 animals are know as: lion, leopard, rhino, elephant and African buffalo. If you are lucky you will see all of these on one safari. Afterward we will go to a Maasai village to meet the tribespeople, share stories and learn about their customs [360º image]. Next we will head back to Nairobi for one more night in Kenya.

DAY 10. Hello seychelles

Experience East Africa - turtle

For those that did not book the post-trip extension you will fly back home today from Nairobi. For those who booked the post-trip extension we will continue the adventure to end off the tour in the exclusive archipelago of Seychelles. When we land we’ll check into our exclusive luxury private condos . No cars are allowed in this private section of Seychelles but each condo will have a golf cart buggy to drive around the area in. There are tennis carts, private pools, private beaches and a small local grocery store to get supplies from. Truly a garden of Eden.

DAY 11. paradise redefined

Seychelles is certainly one of the most beautiful tropical island destinations in the world [360º image]. It’s more remote than the other groups of African islands and you will find that this archipelago is a once in a lifetime treat. Numerous beaches surrounded by scores of natural reserves and plant life. We will go on a day tour of Mahé island, stopping to eat, drink and relax in the water. This is the only item on the itinerary for the day, the rest is free time.

DAY 12. island hopping tour

Experience East Africa - Anse source d'argent beach

There is a beach on another island within the Seychelles archipelago that is the most photographed beach in the world [360º image], and for good reason. The light turquoise water is crystal clear and the rocks look like they were brought here from another planet. We will visit 2 other islands on this boat trip, enjoying pristine beaches and learning about unique plant life like the coco de mer [360º image], the largest seed in the world (up to 40lbs).

DAY 13. experience east africa Goodbye

Experience East Africa - rum
