I Love Being Black & Traveling.black have teamed up again to curate this global experience centered around an Afro-Cuban immersion (space very limited). Nine years ago the US government made it possible to travel to Cuba legally so let’s slide on in while this amazing opportunity still exists! We will dive deep into Cuban culture and also experience the world famous International Havana Jazz Plaza Festival first hand.
After you send your deposit we will assist you in booking a flight. All of our tours have a focus on diasporic Black experiences, Black businesses and Black guides whenever possible. So, whether it’s your first time in Cuba or your tenth, you can look forward to the following amazing itinerary during Experience Cuba 2026:
First day in an exciting new part of the world. After you land at the airport we will collect you and the rest of the group then head to check-in to our privately owned condos. We will be staying together in a few condos where you can choose a single room or shared room, and this year we are offering luxury accommodations as well! If you want to nap, charge your gadgets or explore you can do that now. In the evening we will have our Meet & Greet where we get to know each other and give you your swag bags. For those that have energy later, you’ll get your first glimpse of Cuban nightlife. Welcome to Experience Cuba 2026!
After our daily home-cooked breakfast [360º image] we will head straight to an Afro-Cuban museum that will give you the history of Black people in Cuba. This includes existing religions and other parts of African culture that survived Cuban slavery [360º image]. After lunch we’ll head out into Havana Vieja. This is the Cuba you usually see photos of with rustic vintage looking scenery, an abundance of old classic cars and cobblestone streets [360º image].
For your free day you will have a few options to choose from with focuses on adventure, religion, shopping, leisure or entertainment. We’ll meet back up for dinner and share stories from our different experiences during the day. At night we will head out to a beautiful lounge to soak up the ambiance, the music and the Cuban vibes.
Today we’ll drive east where our first stop is the Slavery Route Museum [360º image] that’s located in a fortified castle. We will learn about slavery and be able to purchase local art depicting the Black experience in Cuba. After lunch we will visit one of the top 10 beaches in the world, Varadero. Crystal blue warm water and a beach that stretches for miles. For dinner you are in for a special treat; we’ll make a reservation to dine at the same restaurant that the Obamas went to! And yes, it’s Black-owned. After dinner we’ll hit up a trendy hot spot that is a factory turned art gallery mixed into an eclectic night club. Great place for taking in the sights and sounds of nightlife in Cuba.
We’ll start the day out at the shopping bazaar. Here you will find amazing gifts that you can buy for those who couldn’t make the trip, or for yourself. Next up is the Classic Car excursion [360º image], the photos will be amazing! A Sunday rumba is truly something to savor. A rumba is loosely translated as a party, in this case an Afro-Cuban day-party with strong religious influences and traditions. There will be a lot of dancing and energy as the musicians let the Orishas from the Santeria religion flow through them. This area of Havana also has some amazing murals and other street art to see. And then… we hit the Jazz Festival in style for their main night as world-renowned musicians grace the stage.
For those that didn’t book the extension we will drop you off at the airport with ample time to make your flights back home. As you head back to the grind you will go forth with memories that will last a lifetime. If you booked the extension we will take a ferry across the water to Regla to see the famous church with a Black Madonna. Afterward we’ll do a rum tasting at the Havana Club factory (designated driver included).
For those that booked the extension, today is our last full day in Cuba. After breakfast we’ll make the drive west to Pinar del Rio / Viñales to experience the root of all those amazing cigars…. tobacco farms [360º image]! This experience will take you from the leaves all the way to the finished product and leave you with a true appreciation of cigars. After lunch we will visit an amazing subterranean cave system [360º image] that involves a short hike but blesses you with spectacular views. Afterward we will head back to Havana for our last dinner together in Cuba.
Today is the sad day that the Experience Cuba 2026 tour has to end (for the extension folks). Thank you for coming with us on this epic adventure, we hope to see you on future Traveling Black Tours!
