During November 15 – 20, 2022 we invite you to Experience Belize, space is very limited. I Love Being Black & Traveling Black have paired up again to curate another amazing tour with crystal-blue water, Afro-Belizean history and some amazing fresh local food. Are you ready?
After you fill out the form below we will assist you in booking the best flight from your home city. All of our tours are safe spaces for Black people and have a focus on diasporic Black experiences, support for Black businesses and local Black guides. Check the itinerary and early bird pricing below.
Belize has been waiting for you… welcome! When you land we’ll meet you right outside of baggage claim with a colorful “TRAVELING BLACK” sign. After that we’ll load everyone up into our air-conditioned private coach and make the drive down to Hopkins Village. On the way down we’ll go over the trip itinerary, local customs and get to know each other since we’ll be hanging out for the next week! After checking into your beach villas we’ll do a short meet and greet, then the rest of the day is at your leisure.
After breakfast we’ll take you to explore the ancient Mayan ruins of Xunantunich. At well over a thousand years old, this archaeological site holds the history from a time long forgotten. After a short hike we will enter a portal to the Mayan underworld on a cave tubing adventure! Accompanied by experienced and knowledgable guides you will see a beautiful cave system by inner-tube as you float gently along the crystal blue-green shallow river.
Today we will embark on a cultural immersion tour that focuses on Garifuna culture. You will learn how to make Tapou which is a dish of fried fish in a coconut based stew of garlic, onions, ginger, tomatoes, orange juice, and more. You will also learn how to make Hudut which is fish cooked in coconut broth with onions, peppers, okra, and more. While your food is being cooked fresh you will get a drumming and dance lesson by a popular local group that keeps Garifuna culture alive through music. Later on that night when we party, you can try out your new moves.
Like islands? Me too! So, did you know Belize has around 400 islands? We will spend the first half of the day island hopping to a few of our favorites, starting with Tobacco Caye. Furthermore if you want to snorkel, swim or just relax on the boat we’ll have all of the appropriate gear for you to get that done. We’ll eat lunch during this excursion, then head back to mainland. The rest of your day will be at your leisure to shop, lounge at the beach villa or participate in some of the lively Caribbean day parties. At night we’ll dance and celebrate life.
November 19th is Garifuna Settlement Day, a national holiday throughout Belize. On this day in 1802 the Garifuna arrived in British Honduras after being exiled on the island of Roatán. Garifuna locals do a reenactment of the boats arriving to shore with plants and other items they brought all while a drumming and dancing demonstration is happening. This is the most important day of the year to celebrate Garifuna culture and history so there will be events all day and well into the night hours.
*We will also be taking our COVID-19 tests to exit the country on this day. (optional)
In conclusion, this is the sad day that we have to say goodbye. Congratulations on taking the time to Experience Belize. We will take you to the airport early to ensure you make your flight on time. Above all, we hope to see you again on future Traveling Black trips!
*Please contact us for longer stays.

Not at all. The river we are cave tubing in is shallow enough to stand up and slow moving. For the island-hopping excursion you do not need to snorkel or even exit the boat if you don’t want to. Belize is doing markedly better than the U.S. As of April 1, 2022 mask wearing is no longer required for indoor and outdoor spaces, but we encourage you to be safe in all spaces and use your discretion.
You do not need to be vaccinated to enter Belize.
But, effective March 1, 2022, fully vaccinated travelers no longer require a negative test but must show proof of vaccination for entry into Belize’s airport, land borders or sea ports. However, we recommend that everyone gets tested before coming.
If unable to show proof or if unvaccinated, the traveler must present proof of a negative PCR result taken within 72 hours of arrival (recommended) or a negative Antigen Rapid test taken within 48 hours of arrival (for $50 USD, cash only, not recommended). A test can be administered by the Ministry responsible for health at the airport (but this will take extra time).
At this time at-home tests are not acceptable for entrance into Belize.
Yes, the Ministry of Health and Wellness is now offering COVID testing for passengers. **As of Sunday, June 12, 2022 the US will no longer require a COVID test for entry into the US (although this may change). That being said if you still want to get tested we will help accommodate that.
Belize does not require specific immunizations for visitors. Please read this list for more info on staying healthy while traveling throughout Belize.
